Readers Workshop: Describing relationships between characters, marking our texts with your thoughts- students will be learning how to track their thinking using post its we will be using symbols - see link, and moving into starting to solve problems in a story- while identifying the solution.
Link on why annotating is important- https://www.weareteachers.com/reading-with-pen-in-hand-teaching-annotation-in-close-reading/
Math: Continuing our study of fact families, using addition to help us subtract up to 20- and as we wrap up our math unit we will focus on working with our favorite math strategies when subtracting up to 20.
Before the Quarter ends I will be updating reading levels- going over sight words- possibly testing students who may need a higher list. We will be wrapping up many of our units.
Updates/Reminders:
Cool classroom- it seems that 216 is either like walking on the scorching hot sun or stuck in an igloo. It would be helpful to keep a sweater in your little ones cubbie for these cold days- and it can stay in there for when they need it.
Homework- need a bit of a teacher at home again : ) going over ABC order again and commas in a series.
Classroom goal- this week we are working on being "present"- over the past couple of weeks I am noticing a trend in behavior with the kids not being in the moment and worrying about what is coming up next, who is doing what, being in others business. We are working on bringing ourselves back to a norm. I would appreciate if you remind them of this when coming to school each day. Our book of the week that explains this concept is called: What does it mean to be present? by Riana DiOrio.
Here are some ways to practice being present and some mindfulness at home.
