tatHappy Monday- and yay to a full week of school. Make sure your little ones get rest each night.
Phonics- short o sound
Readers Workshop- Super Readers will learn how to recognize words they know in a "snap", readers will work towards reading longer words, building out reading stamina.
Readers Response Journals- we are really working on getting out "thoughts" out on the page. As readers we work hard towards creating connections between our reading and thinking. This week we are working on responding to how we feel about what we read and our favorite parts of the book.
Writing- Opinion writing! Students are working towards their first writing piece of making an opinion on which disguise will be the best so the turkey will not be eaten for dinner : )
We will also be working on writing the letter Cc, Ee, Ff, Gg, Jj
Math- counting on a number line to add, doubles, near doubles, facts with 5 on a ten frame, add in any order
Kindness week! We are starting our study on kindness- each day the students will explore acts of kindness in the classroom and ways they can bring it out into the world.
STEM: Students are working on moving the mouse around- and clicking using the right finger to click and hand grip to hold the mouse.
Updates/Reminders:
Warm room- 216 is VERY warm. I suggest sending in lighter clothing- and a sweater they can take on/off.
Snowy Weather & Boots- if you wish you can have "school shoes" that can be kept in your child's cubbie. Students can be sent to school in their boots and change into their shoes here.
One less thing to pack up in the morning!
Would anyone be willing to donate some goldfish again? Thank you! : )
Spoons/forks for snacks- please send in a spoon or fork for you little one if their snack needs it. I will make sure they clean it off and place back into backpack to bring home.
