We did it! Day 1 is done & we hit the ground running.
A peek at our week:
Getting to know ourselves & friends, what are feelings & how to recognize the feelings of others, rules & expectations of 216 & Ms. Flaherty, and creating our class rules.
We are working on routines & structures for the first six weeks! So the kids will come home saying we are doing a lot of practice being in Kindergarten- its a lot of work! This will ensure our academic time is set in place
Today we- worked on these routines.
+Getting into the building
+Getting and eating breakfast
+What does the class timer and "Charlie the Chime" do & mean?
+Walking in the hallways & up the stairs
Lot & lots more! We focused on getting to know each other and finding a buddy- by reading Ms. Mingo's First Day of School. As we read about the animals in Ms. Mingo's classroom and their unique qualities we shared out something about ourselves- they even learned a few fun facts about Ms. Flaherty.
Red Homework Folder (send back everyday)
Please use the keep at home & return to school sides
The red homework folder will be sent home each night with the following: Behavior Calendar, homework packet, and any other items for the week.
In the folder this week you will find- various school documents- complete & return, All About Me puzzle project due 9/10, Sight Word Tic/Tac/Toe & sight word list- test on 9/10 Parent Survey due 9/10,
Happy face, okay face, and sad face- will be indicated on their calendars- we have big class talk about what is means and will continue throughout the week as we set our classroom rules.
+ Homework packets will start the week of 9/10 +
Snack Time
Please send a small snack each day with your little one. If you could just point out their snack for the day, or even make them in charge of packing it for the day; I don't want them mixing snack with their lunch options. Place in an easy to reach spot- maybe a side pocket. Peanut free please!
Lunch Time
Check out the CPS lunch menu tab to see what is being served for the day. Each morning I ask the students if they are getting a "home lunch" or "school lunch"--give them a heads up in the morning of their choice : )
Supplies
Thank you for all the supplies- we are off to a great start with all the materials we need.
Any parents willing to sharpen some pencils- e-mail me if you can.
Dismissal Changes
Notify me by e-mail & the office of any dismissal changes before the end of the day.
