Readers Workshop- Over the next five weeks will be working on and with informational text- identifying basic similarities/differences between two texts on the same topic, identifying the reasons why authors give to support points in a text- we are still working on opinions/arguments in writing- we will also distinguish between information provided by pictures and information provided by words in the text, knowing and using various text features- i. e table of contents, glossaries.
Writing- Just like reading we are working on writing an piece of informational text. Our focus will be weather and clouds to match our science unit. All writing will have to include a topic- plus 2-3 supporting facts and a closing. We will work on "researching" information and identifying whats an important fact vs an opinion in our writing.
Math- Topic 7- base ten! We will spending a lot of time working with base ten and our number sense. Students will recognize tens and ones, how to count on from tens by ones, reading and working with place value blocks
Friday- 2/2 Non- Attendance Days for Students.
Field Trip Forms & Money- friendly reminder that I will collect the blue permission slip and mark your child as attending once the $13 is sent in. Makes it easier to have everyone collected and done with : ) Chaperones are chosen on first come first serve basis- I will be notifying all chaperones by the end of this week.
Homework packet- FREE WEEK! due to the short week the students will not receive a packet. Students are to work on RAZ kids- listen to 3 stories- read 3 stories. Topic 7 homework will be sent home each day- keep an eye out for those sheets.
Spelling Packet- long e with the spelling pattern o_e is due Thursday- the spelling test will take place that day as well.
Box Tops! Send them in as you see them. Lenart will be sending in box tops by 2/26.
Snowy-wet days- please pack an extra pair of shoes to change into.
