Our friend Phil the groundhog did not give me the prediction that I guess- Six more week of winter for us.
Readers Workshop: We are taking all that we learned about text features in an informational text and applying it to our close read. We are using the text, Wild Weather by Seymour Simon, here we are focusing on identifying evidence and learning all that we can about different types of storms.
Writers Workshop: We are into the publishing stages of our writing on lightning- we will be moving onto writing our own informational pieces using the skills we learned last week and text features.
Math: Topic 8 here we go : ) we are continuing our place value study- in topic 8 the class will work with making numbers with 10, making groups of 10 and counting leftovers, counting tens and ones on a 120 chart to find a two digit number.
2/8- Spelling Test- long o words, spelling packet is due.
2/9- Letter Writing Packet is due
2/9- Report Card Distribution- report cards and Winter NWEA data will be sent home this Friday. All copies are yours to keep. Feel free to sent up a conference time with me with any questions/comments.
2/9- Parent Child Dance- 5:30-7:30
2/14- Valentine's Celebration- if you are sending in "valentines" there are 28 students. All "valentines" must be candy and food free.
2/15 100th Day of School- we made it! Please dress your little one up as if they were 100 years old.
2/21- Field trip to Apollo Theatre for Magic Treehouse Play. (pack a bag lunch)
2/23- Read to Succeed reading minutes are due
